Car Seat Safety Event Coming to West Monroe

Stephens Media Group Champions Child Safety with the Car Seat Safety Event

To our cherished listeners and the entire Monroe community,

Stephens Media Group has always stood for more than just radio waves and catchy tunes. We’re the voice of the community, and we’ve taken upon ourselves the mantle of safeguarding our youngest members. We proudly present the Car Seat Safety Event, a centerpiece of the Child Passenger Safety Week, from September 17-23, 2023. The highlight? A dedicated community gathering on National Seat Check Saturday, September 23rd, at The Assembly Church, located at 102 Blanchard Street in West Monroe, LA.

A Glimpse into the Gravity of the Situation

It’s not just about statistics; it’s about our future. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in 2018 is more than just numbers—it’s a call to immediate action. Around 59% of car seats were improperly utilized, possibly undermining their protective capacity. Louisiana’s heart feels this concern as motor vehicle accidents rank as the leading cause of deaths for children aged between 1 and 13 years.

Carving Out a Safer Tomorrow: What to Expect on the Day

  • In-depth Instruction by West Monroe Police Department: Our collaboration with the West Monroe Police Department assures attendees of professional guidance. Their team will provide hands-on demonstrations and instructions about the right car seat installation methods. Plus, they will adjust vehicle mirrors, eliminating potential blind spots, thus ensuring a comprehensive safety approach.
  • Live Beats and Broadcasts: Along with this invaluable education, we’ll ensure there’s no shortage of entertainment. Rock 106, Sunny 98.3, The Wolf 92.3, and Now 103 DJs will be broadcasting live between 10am and 1pm, amplifying the energy of the event and bringing vital safety messages directly to your ears.

An Ode to Our Generous Sponsors

This noble endeavor wouldn’t have achieved its full potential without the generous support of our sponsors:

  • Citizens Progressive Bank: A pillar in our community, their dedication to societal welfare and progress goes hand in hand with our vision for a safer Monroe.
  • Creed & Creed Law Firm: Their unwavering commitment to community causes has made them an ideal partner for this event. Their spirit of service resonates with every initiative they support.
  • CommuniHealth: Health is multifaceted, and CommuniHealth’s involvement underscores the vital importance of proactive safety measures as a cornerstone of community well-being.

Together, with these pillars of our community, we aim to bring about change, awareness, and heightened safety standards.

Join Hands, Join Hearts for a Safer Community

Through this event, our mission extends beyond immediate actions. We envision a Monroe where safety isn’t just practiced but is ingrained in our culture, passed down to future generations. By harnessing the combined knowledge and resources of our community, we can set new standards for child passenger safety.
